Part 2. of planning a supper club
Breaking down the financial side of my latest supper club for you.
Welcome to part two of my ‘how I plan a supper club’ series. I feel that this will be a bit of an ongoing theme on my Substack because so many of you that follow me either want to start your own, or already do run your own, and either way I hope that I can be helpful to you by opening up my own brain dump on this topic.
If you do run your own, you’ll know that they‘re very hard to make money from. In fact, the main aim financially is just to not lose too much money along the way so I aim to at least break even, even if I’m not set to make any profit. The only times where I’ve made a profit from a supper club is when I’ve had a financial sponsor involved, which comes from the privilege of having a social media following. I did a couple of these a few years ago but they do add a bit of extra pressure to an already stressful event, knowing I’ll have certain deliverables for the brand. Everything will also have to be signed off by the brand involved from the poster to the vision of the event, and over time I have wanted my own supper clubs to purely be my own vision.
